5 Basic Tips for Purchasing A Firearm

Select a firearm based on the following:

  1. Size

  2. Purpose

  3. Cost

  4. Reliability

  5. Comfort

Proper Range Attire

Proper dress attire is essential for the  safety of the shooter(s) and those around you.

Ladies, please dress in an outdoor or sporty style of attire. In order to prevent slipping on spent shell casings, please do not wear sandals, flip flops, or heels. Tennis shoes, or boots are acceptable, or any other shoes with a grip on the bottom. Please bring a hat or small scarf of some sort, due to the slight cold ventilation system on the range that can make the lanes a little frigid. Lastly, please wear a closed-in top, i.e. tee shirt, polo shirt, sweater, sweatshirt, etc. to prevent hot spent shell casings from falling down into  your top, causing minor burns.

Firearms Safety Tips

How to travel with firearmsIn the state of Maryland, all firearms shall be kept in a secured case, hard or soft,  or a holster. Firearms should be empty / unloaded with no rounds in the firearm. The magazines need to be kept separate from the firearm, i.e., firearm in the trunk; ammunition in the cab area of your vehicle. Before you ride with firearms in your presence, ensure they are unloaded. REMEMBER:  NEVER GET COMFORTABLE WITH NOT CONDUCTING SAFETY CHECKS.

Dry Firing.  Whenever dry firing, whether in your residence or anywhere, make sure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. In other words, a safe direction—defined as a non-threatening path—is any area considered to have the least amount of damage and the least likely to account for loss of life.

Know what is beyond your target. REMEMBER:  BULLETS TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES and CAN PENETRATE MOST OBJECTS!!

Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. Finger should be rested alongside the frame of the gun.
